October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month, meaning it’s time to start thinking about how to keep your business secure and be cyber safe. With all the news about data breaches and hacks, it’s more important than ever to ensure your business is protected. Here are some tips for Cybersecurity Awareness Month that will help keep your business safe!

One of the best ways to protect your business is to enable multi-factor authentication. In addition to a password, you’ll need another form of identification, such as a fingerprint or code from a security key, to log into your account. This makes it much harder for hackers to access your account, even if they have your password.

Another great way to keep your business secure is to use a password manager. This will help you create strong, unique passwords for all your accounts and have a secure place to store them.

Of course, you can’t use a password manager if you don’t have strong passwords. Make sure to create passwords that are at least eight characters long and include a mix of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols. Avoid using easily guessed words like “password,” your name, and the following:

Phishing is one of the most common cybersecurity threats businesses face. Phishing emails are designed to look like they’re from a legitimate source, such as your bank or a company you do business with. They often contain links or attachments that can install malware on your computer if you click on them. That’s why it’s crucial to be able to recognize phishing emails and know how to report them.

If you or your employees receive a suspicious email, don’t click on any links or attachments. Instead, forward the email to your IT department or security team so they can investigate. You can also report the email to the company it’s pretending to be from.

To keep your business secure, it’s essential to update your software. This includes your operating system, web browser, and any other software you use. Hackers are always looking for vulnerabilities in software, so by keeping your software up to date, you can ensure they don’t have any way to get into your system.

Has your business ever experienced data loss? There is a simple solution to ensure your data is always secure—back it up regularly to the cloud, a secure remote server, or a physical storage device. This will ensure you’re able to avoid costly disasters and master data protection against hackers.

Ready to keep your business secure?
